Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has joined a group of six Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates who have refused to cover Aduhelm, Biogen’s Alzheimer’s medicine until it has been shown successful. Excellus is still classifying the medicine as “investigational” until more evidence of its efficacy becomes available. “Our health plan wants our members to have access to therapies that are safe, effective, and evidence-based as demonstrated by peer-reviewed clinical trials” said Excellus Vice President Elizabeth Martin.

Oscar Health aims towards huge expansion
Oscar Health, a New York City-based insurance start-up, released its second-quarter financial report with a strong 2022 plan loaded with expansion and support for inclusive care. Oscar Health said that during the 2022 open enrollment period, it will expand to three more states and 146 new counties. Arkansas, Illinois, and Nebraska are among the new states, with Colorado, Florida, Georgia, and other states seeing additional development of the insurer’s presence. Oscar Health has expanded its scope for the fifth year in a row, this time in 2022.
UnitedHealth Group Q2 dividend stats
The board of directors of UnitedHealth Group has approved a cash dividend of $1.45 per share, payable on September 21, 2021, to all UnitedHealth Group common stock owners of record at the close of business on September 13, 2021. The Company raised its full-year net earnings forecast to $17.35 to $17.85 per share, and adjusted earnings to $18.30 to $18.80 per share, based on the first half of 2021 performance. Potential net unfavourable COVID-19 consequences of around $1.80 per share are still factored into the forecast.
