Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ohio and Kroger Health, the healthcare division of the Kroger Co, will offer new 2022 Medicare Advantage plans with benefits and services to address an individual’s whole-health needs and wellbeing, combining their complementary experiences in helping people live healthier lives. Eligible members enrolled in one of these plans will receive benefit allowances that can be used to purchase nutritious foods as well as health and wellness products at Kroger Family Stores. “Anthem and Kroger Health share the goals of improving access to cost-effective healthcare services, driving health outcomes improvement, and simplifying the healthcare experience,” said Neil Steffens, President of Anthem’s Medicare Central Region.

Cigna made two announcements this week aimed at expanding its Medicare Advantage footprint in three states. The insurer stated that it is expanding its Medicare Advantage services in Portland, Oregon, by adding two new plans. In three Oregon counties and one Washington county, Cigna Preferred Medicare and Cigna True Choice Medicare will be available. According to the release, Cigna has selected Lindy Hinman as its Medicare Advantage lead in both states.

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association announced two C-level executive moves recently. Adam Myers, MD, will serve as the organization’s senior vice president and chief clinical transformation officer.
