To facilitate secure data exchange, several blue-chip healthcare companies, including payers, have announced $50 million in seed funding to blockchain startup Avaneer Health for secure data exchange. Using HL7’s FHIR specification, the blockchain network offers data access across healthcare players. Its prime focus is on payer-to-payer give and take of data. According to officials, Avaneer Health will utilize the funding to further boost its technology.

Change Healthcare mulling asset sale to pave way for UnitedHealth acquisition
Healthcare technology company Change Healthcare Inc. is planning to sell some of its assets to pave the way for its $8 billion purchase by American multinational managed healthcare and insurance company UnitedHealth Group Inc. According to reports, Change Health is in touch with advisers to chalk out the strategy for the possible sale of its claims payment solution, ClaimsXten. If this happens, ClaimsXten will be able to bring in over $1 billion.
