From an internal memo seen by Insider, Google is closing a project to integrate disparate healthcare projects. It appears like Google Health’s future will be like its past: The unit would no longer operate as a united group, according to Jeff Dean, Senior VP of Google’s Research and Health operations. Instead, a team building a search platform for medical records will report directly to him. The division should not be confused with Google’s personal health record platform. The product’s goal was to build a massive database of healthcare data and information that would benefit both patients and doctors, however, it was shut down in 2012.
