Cerner, an EHR company, has announced that its board of directors has named David Feinberg, MD, MBA, president, and CEO, effective October 1. Feinberg formerly served as Google Health’s Vice President. Feinberg succeeds Brent Shafer, who announced earlier this year his wish to quit down as chairman and CEO. Feinberg will be a member of the board of directors. He oversaw Google’s global health projects, which involved bringing together stakeholders to employ artificial intelligence (AI), product knowledge, and hardware to address some of healthcare’s most serious issues through health IT. “With his exceptional track record of leading and innovating programs to improve patient care, technology experience, and industry expertise, we believe Dr. Feinberg is the ideal CEO to lead Cerner in its next chapter of growth and success,” said Mitch Daniels, member of the Cerner board and chair of the Nominating, Governance, and Public Policy Committee.
